The Artist behind the lens

Welcome, I'm Jess, the photographer behind Jeku. I started Jeku in 2017, with a brand new camera and love for the craft. My work is inspired by the visual storytelling of cinema, classic style of fashion editorials, and the emotional capture of film photography. I photograph with both film and digital mediums because, to me, there is nothing better than albums that hold both crisp luxurious and soft authentic photos.

My photos are for couples who want more than documentation, they want to be seen through an artist’s perspective. I work closely with each couple, shoot personally, and carefully compose every final digital and film frame myself to preserve your story. Every frame is designed to last as art.

I take on up to 20 celebrations a year with bookings opening up 18 months in advance for each calendar year.

How will we receive our photos? Can we make an album or prints?

Your final images will be delivered via digital gallery. Within the gallery is an option to select local print shops or well-known brands to directly order albums, prints, framed prints, calendars, cards, etc.

How do we secure our date?

A 40% retainer and signed digital contract will officially secure your date, marking off the calendar just for you.

How far in advance should we book out?

I take on up to 20 celebrations a year, and open my calendar for bookings 18 months in advance. Timing is personal to each couple, some book in advance, while others are looking closer to their date.

What cameras do you shoot on?

For film, I use a mix of medium format and 35mm, chosen for their reliability and beautiful images. For digital, my Canon R5 Mark II is always on me, and if the local laws allow, I love to use my drone.

What is the turnaround time for galleries?

I send sneak peek photos within 48 hours of your wedding, and your full gallery of film and digital images are available within 8 weeks of your wedding date.

How do you keep our images safe?

I. Backup equipment: camera bodies, lenses, flashes, etc.

II. Digital images are shot with dual recording, meaning each photo taken is saved onto two separate cards, and backed up on physical hard drives stored up to 6 months.

III. Film images are taken on different camera bodies, using separate rolls, and processed by a lab I have worked with for almost a decade. Negatives are scanned and corrected by me, and stored for up to 6 months.
