I'm Jess, a photographer based in Northern California. I started Jeku in 2017 with a new camera and love for the craft. Since then, I've shot hundreds of weddings both locally and around the country, from intimate elopements to magnificent celebrations. My work draws inspiration from the visual storytelling of cinema, paired with the raw emotional capture of film photography, and always showered in light. I use both film and digital cameras with every wedding I shoot, because there is nothing better than having both crisp luxurious and soft authentic photos.
My role goes far beyond me with a camera. While this may be the first wedding you’ve designed, this is my 100+, and I’m here for you from the beginning. I work closely with each couple, from outlining your creative vision, to detailing styling, with touch points all along the way. As your day unfolds, I’m there documenting not just the highlights, but the unscripted moments that are the true tells of your story.
Definitely. All digital final images will be curated and hand edited by me for color, value, saturation, exposure, and sharpness until they come out exactly right. All film images are sent to a film lab I've worked with for almost a decade, for your negatives to be processed and digitized.
Yes! No part of my process is outsourced, and to me, this is all part of keeping my work genuine. I'll meet with you, plan out your vision for the day, document your wedding, curate the photos, and hand edit them to bring them to life and tell your unique story.
Your final edits and photos will be delivered via digital gallery, which allows you to easily view, share, and download your images. This digital gallery is also partnered with several print shops, from small-local to well-known brands, that allow you to directly order albums, prints, framed prints, calendars, cards, etc.
After several years of shooting weddings of all sizes without a second shooter, adding a second shooter is not a need but can be a nice addition. With another photographer, there is more ground covered and a wider variety of shots can be documented. If 200+ guests are attending your celebration, adding an additional shooter can make sure more guests and angles of your ceremony are documented.
I mark off wedding dates as requests come through, and I'm always accepting new inquiries for future dates. Some popular dates fill up quickly, but feel free to reach out and I can let you know if I am available!
I send sneak peek photos within 48 hours of your wedding date, film takes around 3 weeks to be processed and digitized, and your full gallery of film and digital edits is available to view online within 8 weeks of your wedding date.
Over all my years as a wedding photographer, I have never had to miss a wedding. However, in the very rare circumstance where I have become extremely ill or can no longer walk (yikes), I have a network of incredible photographers who can take my place for the day. They will share their RAW unedited images with me afterwards to then curate and edit.
I have 5 cameras available at every wedding I shoot, and tons of memory cards, lenses, and batteries. All my camera bodies happen to be Canon, which is nice because I share lenses between them. I have two medium format 35mm film cameras, and three digital cameras, my main is mirrorless and two others are dslrs.
